Hypertension, Heart Disease, and Heart Failure

HYPERTENSION, or high blood pressure, happens when the force of blood in your vessels is too high all the time.

HEART DISEASE covers many issues, often due to a process called atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis occurs when plaque builds up in artery walls, narrowing them and making it harder for blood to pass through. Plaque is made of fat, cholesterol, and other substances. If a blood clot forms, it can block blood flow, possibly causing a heart attack or stroke.

HEART FAILURE is a condition where the heart cannot pump blood well enough to keep up with your body's needs. This can lead to organ damage and fluid buildup in the lungs.
